Responsible Workforce Training (Basic Core Curriculum): 

Fulfills the mandatory workforce training requirement for all Cannabis Licensee Employees in New York State. Required within 30 days of hire, this training must be completed by individuals engaged in the handling, sale, delivery, or production of cannabis products. Curriculum.

Completion of this curriculum is required annually and must be documented via the Training Verification Form.

Diversity & Equity Inclusion Program

Fulfills the DEI training requirement mandated for all Cannabis Licensee Employees in New York. This course must be completed by individuals employed in any role across the cannabis supply chain and is designed to promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace.

Official Compliance Training from ACTA

ACTA’s New York Marijuana Employee Training Certification is a state-aligned, online training program designed to support compliance with New York marijuana laws and employee training requirements administered by the New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM).

New York marijuana operations are governed by the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act (MRTA) and corresponding regulations adopted by the Office of Cannabis Management. ACTA’s training is structured to reflect these statutory and regulatory requirements for individuals working in licensed marijuana establishments throughout New York.

Compliance Training for Licensed Marijuana Establishments

ACTA’s New York Marijuana Employee Training is designed for employees and agents working in licensed adult-use and medical marijuana businesses, including dispensaries, cultivation sites, processors, distributors, and delivery operators.

This training focuses on employee responsibilities under New York law, public health and safety obligations, and day-to-day compliance expectations enforced by the Office of Cannabis Management.

Regulatory Assignment Summary

The New York Marijuana Employee Training Certification is delivered 100% online and self-paced, with no scheduled sessions, live instruction, or time limits. Learners may complete the training on their own time and from any device.

Upon successful completion, learners receive a certificate of completion documenting fulfillment of New York marijuana employee training requirements.

Certificate validity: 1 year from the date of completion

Certificates may be retained by employers as documentation for OCM inspections, audits, and licensing compliance. ACTA maintains training records and provides verification support upon request.

In this module, we take a deep-dive into the latest scientific and/or peer-reviewed research on the physical and mental health effects of marijuana.
In addition, we also explore the different types of marijuana products, the amount of time to feel impairment, visible signs of impairment, and how to recognize these signs.

Best Practices of Checking IDs and Diversion Prevention

In this module, we share the battle-tested "U-CARD" framework that helps you and any other Marijuana Establishment Agent in easily and effectively checking IDs. But we don't just stop there.
We also delve deeper into the tactical tips and tricks of checking the most common forms of identification that you will likely come across. The fines and penalties for serving minors can be substantial, so we're to minimize that possibility!

Record and Inventory Tracking: Complying from Seed to Sale

In this module, we share the compliance tracking requirements that have been established by the Cannabis Control Commission. And, we dive deeper into best practices for interacting with METRC

Protecting Yourself from Licenses Sanctions and Criminal Liability

In this module, we share the various ways that Marijuana Establishments and their Agents can trip compliance requirements, and how to best prepare as well as respond to these incidents.

Do I or my team need to get certified?

In Massachusetts, all Marijuana Establishment Agents that are involved in the handling or sale of Marijuana shall successfully complete the 4-Hour Responsible Vendor Training within 90 days of hire and every year thereafter (935 CMR 500/501).
